Hi,
My name is JOY.
or as I liked to be called here Joyfull Joy.
I created Joyfull Joy to bring JOY to people’s lives, mental health and FOOD.
A place where the stigma is broken with mental health.
Where nobody feels alone in their struggles.
Where you can be creative with food.
Where you can fuel your body with GOODNESS.
(Which FYI also means cookies, burgers and salted caramel #balancednotclean).
I created it at the back end of a dark place.
I had sunk to the bottom.
My depression, anxiety and orthorexia had come to a head.
When your name is Joy and people expect Joy, it’s difficult when you can literally not find Joy in anything.
When you find it difficult to leave the house.
When you find it difficult to talk to people.
When you find it difficult to enjoy anything.
When you find it difficult to pin on a smile and pretend that everything is okay.
When you find it difficult to find motivation to do anything but stay in bed.
When you find it difficult to be creative at all.
I was eating bare minimum to keep myself going and things NEEDED to CHANGE.
I started off simply making myself a DELICIOUS and DIFFERENT oatmeal each morning.
I started making positive changes everywhere.
I started writing.
I created this blog.
Slowly but surely, things have got better.
Which does not mean there are bad days.
But I am better equipped to manage them.
And I want to help others with this too.
I started this blog to bring JOY back into my life.
To find JOY again.
But also to bring JOY to others.
To bring JOY to your food.
To bring JOY to your life.
To open up the conversation about mental health.
To open up the conversation about nutrition.
I hope you find JOY here,
Much love,
Joy xx

I’m a massive FOODIE. Cooking, eating, exploring, going to restaurants and food events.
I love to write. I love to explore. I love to travel. I love to be silly with my friends and family. I love to exercise ( like fun FUN exercise not crazy gym I hate myself exercise.)
I’m obsessed with documentaries. From fraud, to flat earthers, to murderers, to polyamory. If it’s a documentary – I’m INTERESTED.
I’m a porridge enthusiast. I have it MOSTLY every day.
Salted caramel runs through my veins. It is the SWEET NECTAR FROM THE GODS.
Brownies are my ride or die. The gooier on the inside, the crunchier on the outside, THE BETTER.
There is pretty much NO FOOD I would not TRY.
I can move my eyes independently from each other.
I’ve been lactose intollerant since I was 11. I’m currently vegan (you must be fun at parties).
I used to hate being called JOY. I thought it was an old ladies name. Now there is no other name, I would rather have.
I love being JOY.
